I paint with traditional oils
on gallery quality canvas, stretched on 1 1/2 inch deep, warp resistant frames. The depth of the canvas allows me to
continue the painting onto the sides of the canvas. This technique, which adds a unique quality, means that the painting
can be displayed without the added expense of a frame.
Though I paint a variety of subjects, one of my great loves is painting portraits of pets. I work from your photos which I scan and return to you. I prefer at least two to three shots
with at least one close up and one showing the full body. I can work from both "bad" and "good" quality photos.
Paintings take four to six weeks to complete and need at least another two weeks for the
paint to loose its stickness. If a painting is to be mailed, it needs a longer drying time so that it doesn't stick
to packing material.
In addition to pets, I also paint portraits, still-lifes,
landscapes, and florals. Because I feel that the medium contributes to the artistic intent, I vary my medium choice
to include oils, watercolor with pen and ink, pastels, acrylics, graphite, charcoal, and conte crayon.
